Polyphemus’s Cave

After passing the belvedere grotto and the waterfall, the footpath takes a straight southward direction. In the central lawn area, on the right, a sort of ravine can be seen, a picturesque natural cave shaped out between rocks and shrubs, which must have originally been richer and denser. This artificially created cavity evokes a natural cave inspired by the place in which the giant Polyphemus fell asleep, having been tricked by Ulysses.
