The visit begins on the first piano nobile, on which are located the reception rooms of the Royal Family. Outstanding is the ballroom, the only room in the Villa with a double height. It has decorated vaults and walls, imitation marble panels, sumptuous chandeliers and marble terrazzo flooring.
The private apartment of King Umberto I and Queen Margherita is, in its present form, the result of a renovation project carried out at the end of the 19th century by the Court Architect Achille Majnoni d'Intignano.
Of particular note in the Queen’s apartment is the crimson Damascus wallpaper adorned with floral designs. Striking, too, are the four glass doors at the corners of the room. The vault bears gilded decorations with ruined landscapes. A small door provides a direct connection to the apartment of King Umberto I.
The itinerary also includes a visit to the sovereigns’ private apartments. Following this, it is possible to visit all the spaces belonging to the museum itinerary.
