Acer platanoides, Fam. Aceraceae
A long-living deciduous broadleaf tree reaching a height of 20-25 m. It has a straight trunk and dense, rounded foliage. The bark is greyish-brown, longitudinally fissured. The leaves are large, palmate, with 3-7 lobes terminating in a prolonged, slightly curved point. It is common in the Park and can easily be seen in the wooded zones of the northern portions. There is also a row to the north of the Cascina Frutteto.
