Luigi Canonica

The architect Luigi Canonica was born in Roveredo di Tessarete, in the Canton Ticino, on 9th March 1762. He studied in Milan at the Accademia di Brera, where he was a pupil of Giuseppe Piermarini, who strongly influenced his first period of activity. He acted as Piermarini’s assistant at Brera and later took his place there as professor of architecture.
